The Statistical Pain

I think Stalin said "One death is a tragedy; a million is a statistic" (or so my GPT friend tells me). I find this hilarious.

In a bad way.

So if we all develop a condition that kills us at exactly 30 years, and I start crying when im 10 years old, people would not care "man up, everyone goes through it". Who cares everyone goes through the same thing, its still tragic.

I feel that we draw a line of compassion somewhere where more and more people experience it.

Take covid, i'm not sure i know anyone that didnt go through covid. I lost my smell and been struggling to get it back ever since. But they all went through that at some level. Meaning, that my problem is really a "no problem".

What if I lost my eye sight: "Oh noooo!" What if everyone loses their eye sight: "Mind the gap!"

I hate how we gaslight anything that is painful but common.
